The Carp ("Koi" in Japanese) were perennially underfunded, and were so poor that in 1953 they could only afford to issue one uniform per player. In spite of their serious lack of funding, the Carp persevered, playing in Hiroshima Municipal Stadium until 2008.
We can't imagine "Go Carp!" strikes fear into the heart of Hiroshima's opposition, but we're sure it sounds better in Japanese.
